R&D studies regarding development of TÜMOSAN brand engines are carried on intensively and design and application project within the framework of cooperation of ITU-OTAM and TÜMOSAN is in progress. Project aims at developing new models, based on existing diesel engines produced by TÜMOSAN and protected by Turkish patents, by applying new fuel-air mixture ratios and new combustion principle thus achieving European standards in the aspects of performance, fuel consumption, emission and noise level. Increase of competition power, at home and abroad, of the engines to be manufactured and increase of added value brought in the country by TÜMOSAN is the objective of the project.

By the R&D studies, main engines of TÜMOSAN engine group are developed in three versions as 4-cylinder natural suction, turbo charge, turbo charge and intercooler by using MR-1 combustion chamber and 4-hole special injectors and Stage-II and Stage-III-A approval certificates have been received by subjecting them to certified tests in compliance with 2004/26/EC standard.
